Batya Elul, PhD, is director of strategic information at ICAP where she focuses on the development and implementation of systems to monitor large-scale HIV programs in sub-Saharan Africa, and conducting operations research to optimize the scale-up of comprehensive HIV services in resource-limited settings. Prior to joining Columbia’s Mailman School, Dr. Elul was a program associate at the Population Council in New York and New Delhi where she was responsible for clinical, social science, and community-based research and evaluation on abortion and other reproductive health issues in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Much of that work focused on making reproductive health technologies more accessible to women and simpler to access in developing countries.
