Waichi Ho has over 18 years of experience in the fields of education and international health. She worked as Business Manager for the Yale University Council on East Asian Studies (1995-1998), followed by a stint as Executive Officer at the University of Hong Kong School of Business (1998-1999). She later moved to the University of California, San Francisco first as Director of Interpreting Services for the UCSF hospital systems (1999-2000), and then as Administrative Coordinator for the Institute of Global Health (2001-2002). In 2002, she joined the Executive Leadership Team of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria and became one of the first permanent staff members of the newly established Geneva-based global funding mechanism conceived by Kofi Annan and the G8 to raise billions of dollars in funding for the fight against the three killer diseases. In 2004 and took up the position of Assistant Director at Columbia University’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute and since 2010, she has held the position of Executive Director. She holds a B.A. (double hons.) in German Studies and Russian Studies from the University of Manchester, UK (1993) and an M.P.A. from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University (2007).
