Biography

Dr. Cole’s scholarly work has focused principally on the development of the sociology of
science as a research specialty. More recently he has focused on aspects of higher
education. His The Great American University is a spirited defense of the research university.
He is completing a book on what a great university ought to look like 25 or 30 years from now.
